I am using a school PC and didn't want to use the standard OS they had. I cut a few corners and installed Windows 10 on that computer. Now the time when I have to give this computer back in, I started thinking about getting the old OS back. I asked a friend and borrowed their computer to copy their disk and boot it up on mine. For this I used PartitionWizard I started with the default settings. Now, I can not boot my friends PC or the new disk and I have no idea what to do. I can not reinstall this operating system. It's installed with a script I do not have access to

Hi mmmmm, welcome to the Forum.

Do you have a Windows 7 installation DVD?. When you say you copied your friends computer, what exactly did you do. From what you have said you can't get your friends computer to work either.

We need a lot more info on what you did please.

My plan was to use an external HDD to boot my computer into a copy of my friend's computer. I used a third party software called Minitool partitionWizard to copy my friend's computers drive and used this software's default settings to copy it.

I can't reinstall the OS since I do not have access to the script my school uses.

and no, I can't boot my friend's computer (The one in the picture). I have no idea why that would happen since the only task was to copy the drive, not change anything on it

I do not know anything more than that. If you need me to go more in-depth, please ask more specific questions

Does your friend have a Windows installation DVD as you will have use that to do a Start Up Repair on his computer, or perhaps even a Repair Install.

Using Minitool partition wizard will not work, neither will copying another hard drive to install into your computer. The installation process requires the loading of hardware drivers & software drivers that are matched to a computers particular components, which often vary considerably.

The only way you could get it to work would be download a cloning program on his computer, such Macrium Reflect & clone your hard drive from his. The only way that might work would be if your computer & his are identical, that is same make & model, same hardware configuration & loaded with the same Windows Operating System, such as Windows Enterprise. Even then you may run into problems with activation unless you have the activation code the school uses.

I think you may have to ask the school to help you fix this problem.

If this PC is owned by the school I would suggest leaving it alone.

Just give them the PC and tell them what you did, they will just reimage it.

And from now on, don`t mess with a PC that does not belong to you. If that was a work PC, they could have easily fired you. Buy your own PC.
