On 9-June-2012 our Dell XPS 8300 started getting the BSOD when trying to open Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Contribute. From January 2012 through 9-June we have had no trouble with Adobe. We have not added any new software or hardware around the 9-June timeframe. The ONLY time we get the BSOD is when starting one of these two products. We never get the BSOD at other times. We DON'T get this error when we start Adobe Photoshop. On 14-June I installed the latest video driver, but that did not help. I have run chkdsk /r /f and memtest and I have tested the video memory.....all without errors.

I've attached all the files I believe you need.

PC Information
Model Dell XPS 8300
OS Windows 7 Home Premium (service pack 1)
Ram 12gb
System 64 bit
Video card Nvidia GeForce GT530

This machine was purchased new from Dell in January 2012 and put into service.

Thank you in advance for your help!

This is a business computer (my boss's) and help would be great! I have run out of ideas on my own.

Is the above disabled device intentional? If so, why?

Please enable the above device and update its drivers from the Dell support site.

All crashes point to your Acronis Virtual Disk Storage Filter driver. Make sure you have the most up to date version of the Acronis software. If you do not, uninstall your version and obtain the latest version. If you already have the latest version, try uninstalling it, downloading a fresh copy of the installer, and re-installing it. The software may be corrupted.

Writhziden,

I did the following things.
1. I uninstalled the Acronis software. Made sure everything I could find was off the hard drive.
2. Activated the DW1501 wireless device.
3. I uninstalled the BrSerId.sys and BrUsbSer.sys drivers and reinstalled the latest drivers from the manufacture's website.
4. I was getting nervous about updating the other two drivers so I did NOT update them.

The bad news I still have exactly the same problem. Every time I try to start adobe illustrator or adobe contribute, I get the BSOD. After I updated the two BR* drivers, the BSOD of death happens almost immediately after I launch the applications. Before I updated the drivers it would get part way into the applications before it would go to BSOD.

I've attached a new set of dump/report files.

Thank you for your time and help on this, I hope we can fix this! I have no idea where to start.

Still recommend removing the following software:
Code:
Start Menu\Programs\PC Tools Registry Mechanic	Public:Start Menu\Programs\PC Tools Registry Mechanic	Public

All crashes still point to your Acronis Virtual Disk Storage Filter driver. I would recommend removing the software to test.

The crashes may also be related to McAfee. The installation could be corrupted. Re-install with the following method:

If re-installing McAfee does not resolve it, try replacing it:

Writhziden,

I realized yesterday that even though I did an uninstall on Acronis, there were still drivers and registry entries for the Acronis software. I have since cleaned up the drivers and registry entries.

I uninstalled 'PC Tools Registry Mechanic', McAfee and Norton Security Scan and then I had to do a system restore. I was able to uninstall McAfee the second time and Norton tried to uninstall, but I don't think anything got removed. PC Tools Registry won't let me do an uninstall, says a file is missing....my guess is it did not get recovered correctly when I did a system restore.

I am still getting the BSOD but now I get a different possible driver. it looks like the debug tools thinks partmgr.sys could be the problem. Please take a look and let me know your thoughts.

Thank you very much for your time and effort.

This is looking more and more like you damaged your Windows system beyond repair by using the above software. I didn't even notice the first one the first couple times... Time to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164

If you are still under warranty, I would advise: DELL Windows 7 PC Restore

Hi Writhziden,

Thank you for all your help with this issue. I did use the Dell Windows 7 PC Restore and that worked fine. I then restored my last system image prior to when the problem began and everything is good. Again, thank you for all your time and effort in diagnosing this issue.
