Bsod

Hi everyone,

I have a user that experienced a BSOD. I didn't actually see the error but I was able to copy the mini dump file. I have attached it for your review and greatly appreciate any help in the matter.

In this dump there a two possible suspects, failing the rest of the info, it is a guess as to what to check first.

Your bugcheck has these possible causes, generally: Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility

First thing I'd check is Norton. Those files could not be referenced correctly in the dump and sometimes, that's a sign. As a test de-install and IMMEDIATELY download and install new or other ( free examples are MSE or Avast!)

Then reboot.
Sometimes these uninstallers do not remove all they should out of Registry:
Run CCleaner, both regular and registry.

Next install your preferred AV immediately.

Next the faulty driver in the dump has to do with graphics drivers and direct X.
I am unsure of this friends system details but I'd download latest graphical devices drivers from manufacturer. Make sure you really de-install the old first:

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Driver Sweeper

- Reboot your PC in Safe Mode.

- Analyse lists all the entries possible to remove, cleaning removes the entries selected.
- More drivers can be selected for the same cleaning process.

What can it be used for ?
The current supported drivers are NVIDIA (Display and Chipset), ATI (Display), Creative (Sound) Realtek (Sound), Ageia (PhysX) and Microsoft (Mouse).
