Budget Custom Build!

Regarding the parts listed in post 96:

What is the exact name and model of that EVGA power supply with 500 watts? Do you have a direct link to it?

You've chosen a B150 motherboard. It may be fine for your purposes, but it's targeted at businesses not home builders. I don't know details of the chipset. You need to investigate that motherboard to confirm it has the enough ports, slots, and features to do what you need to do---gaming mostly. You particularly need to investigate if it is a good match for a high-powered video card. I can't help you there---I don't use video cards or B150 motherboards.

About the ssd, should i buy the SSD 120 GB instead of the 1tb hdd for now? And when i have enough money ill buy the 1tb transfer all my files to it except my os?

And i cant buy stuff from newegg as the shipping fees are insane.

Have you got a picture of your case and the hardware inside it?

What extra wiring will i have to buy if any?

Sure does make it a lot simpler to just move data instead of the os ;)
I would try looking for a 128gb ssd I believe Crucial MX100 series I have a couple of them and of course a couple 256gb too they are very good.

I have both my systems posted,

That should work well,
The psu should have all the wiring required and the mother board should have the data cables for the hdd or ssd

The only thing you possibly might need is some fan cable extensions but that would just be so you can route them where they aren't seen optional ;)

EVGA 500W Review

I think the above is a review of your power supply. Read it before committing.

It's made by HEC. Sells for about 45 in the USA. It apparently is not modular or semi-modular.

What other power supplies near 500 watts are available to you within your budget?

Lian Li Announces the PC-V2130 Brushed Aluminum Full Tower Case - Legit Reviews

Lian Li presents the PC-V2130 (Update)

Lian-Li Global | PC-V2130

Is this your case? Lian-Li cases are generally pretty well made, but not particularly quiet due to using aluminum rather than steel.

It's a very big case--over 25 inches tall, over 9 inches wide, and nearly 25 inches deep. Most people would use a mid-tower rather than a full tower, but there's nothing wrong with that huge size if it doesn't bother you and you have room for it.

It apparently has a door covering the entire front of the case. Are you OK with that? Some folks don't like doors.

Regarding the SSD: you can fit Windows alone on about 20 GB. If you get both an HDD and an SSD, the normal idea would be to put Windows and all applications that will fit on the SSD. Put only data on the HDD. If you are a gamer, your gaming installations may not fit on a 120 or 240 GB SSD, so you'd put them on the HDD if necessary. But try to put as much as will fit on the SSD to take advantage of it's speed. I have Windows and 55 applications and use only 40 GB of a 120 GB SSD.

No no no, i just put that case there to set the price on the case. I linked the case i was getting. That Lian case there that i selected is £400 lol

Watched pcprtpickers video on a build on the B150M with GTX 960 and i cant wait till i get my parts and start building mine. Looks like great fun. Finding the slots for the wiring may be a little hard, but the manual has everything.

Whats this psu like?

This one seems alright, semi modular, modular ones tend to be more expensive than my budget.

Getting the 250gb ssd samsung would cost me £75 and the 120gb would cost me £50.. I think the 120gb will do as i dont need many files on the with the most important ones being the os.
Found a ssd 250gb samsung for only £59

So i should try the evga 500 alright, alot of people use it and so i think it'll be fine.

Yea the bronze rated psu's are cheap for a reason buddy
As suggested I would too suggest biting the bullet and at the very least go with a gold rating probably wouldn't matter too much on which brand but I'd go evga as long as it was gold rated.
Why you should not buy a Corsair CX

Gold rated is great, the price isnt though.

I found a cpu and checked a couple of reviews and this is something ill be picking i think, semi modular, gold rated, gives that 50w extra power too. Not a bad price either.

When i get it ill disect it take the grill off and spray paint it red.

Doesnt look like it has any warranty void stickers either. Ill be extra careful before doing so though.

Im stupid, the warranty will be voided because they can clearly tell that i changed the colour of the grill and so it had to be removed...

What OS do you recommend, i was thinking of getting windows 7 or 8 but if im getting 8 i might aswel get windows 10. Ive looked up alot of reviews and in my eyes windows 7 is best as its best for gaming. What do you guys suggest?
