Budget Custom Build!

To add, my motherboard doesnt have two ps2 slots...

Alot of people who couldnt get their keyboard and mouse to work on the installation part of windows just plugged in their keyboards and mice into usb 2.0 and it worked. In the 3.0 USB it didnt work for them. Probably a reason why my motherboard doesnt have 2 PS2 slots.

Yeah asked a few builders and they said it should be fine using usb as long as its not a weird special keyboard that needs a drive installed and mines just a crappy standard keyboard and mice and so they said it should be fine.

you do not want Windows 8 or even 8.1 , get Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit to go with the new platform.

You will never figure out how to put 7 on the new chipset ;)

Hahahaha Bro i almost pissed myself lmao

Damn Windows 7 installing on a Z170 is like getting a winning lotto ticket it's like a 1/5.444.44444.44422.22 of a chance lmao

I wouldn't worry about the usb thing it's most likely overblown bs
Addram just messaged me he had no usb issues installing win-7 pro on his z170 sabertooth and 6700k ;)

Not sure if he used a disk or usb to install though :/
Dish should be no issues

Right, not sure if this is a problem or not but my case takes a ATX PSU2 power supply and the one i have selected is a ATX12V / EPS12V.

Are you locked in and committed to that Zalman power supply? Have you already bought it?

What vendor are you using for your components? Can you provide a link?

You may be able to do better than the Zalman, depending on your vendor and your budget.

I'm just wondering what lead you to that particular power supply, which I believe is made by Enhance.

If you are using Aria in the UK as a source, here is an excellent PSU from their stock:

I really dont wish to go over £50 but if i have to i will. The EVGA 550W GS seems okay and a little cheaper than the G2 but still costs more money than Zalman, i dont see any problem in using the Zalman but im just curious if its compatible with my case.

EVGA Supernova GS 550W Review

Above is a review of the EVGA 550 GS; pretty good; not as high as the other EVGA, but I'd take it over the Zalman.

But the better EVGA 550 G2 is only 2 pounds more expensive than the EVGA 550 GS---67 versus 65.

Post a current list of your parts if possible.

Any of them, including the Zalman, should be compatible with your case.

The base components of RAM, motherboard, and CPU look fine to me.

When I poke your link, it shows only those 3 components, not the video card, power supply, or case.

You need to buy a CPU cooler.

Don't know how many other components you need or your budget, but it looks OK. I don't know anything about gaming video cards, so can't comment on that.

The K series processors do NOT include a cooler.

The 6600 has a cooler. The 6600K does not.

The 6700 has a cooler. The 6700K does not.

Got it?

The K series boxes are smaller because they do not contain a cooler.
