Ok, WTF. Just install and enjoy what you got. Re-arm if necessary or stick with one of the earlier builds that uses the RC key until October or later. Jeez, this doesn't have to be that complicated.

+1 :D

I'm buying Windows 7 when it hits the shelves on Oct 22, that makes me exempt when I use the Re-Arm till then!! ;)

I would encourage everyone to buy it when they can. Retail, pre-order, whatever. In my case, I will have access to the gold builds on TechNet and Partner access soon anyway. I have already paid for it with subscription fees.

This is the one OS software release that deserves a good return on investment IMHO.

The only problem is that us in the UK (or EU) have to do a clean install in Oct. Our version is different to whats being "leaked" so our keys wont work come Oct.
So, not complicated but but not as straight forward as you seem to think.

+1! Eveyone likes to play with leaks to see whats new, but at the end of the day we should purchase some form of the final product. The discounted upgrade program was a tremendous deal and I hope everyone takes advantage of it ... I did!!

Yeah, me too. But then I decided to get a TechNet subscription anyway so I guess I may be canceling my pre-order.

Not necessarily true, you getting it from Technet, doesn't really allow you to install it on production machines, the license is for evaluation and testing purposes only. You also haven't really paid for it, as that technet subscription gets you access to other software, at a bargain price of 350 USD, not exactly sure on the exact amount.

Yes, I have heard this opinion before. I have paid the subscription each year for the last three years. I know what the terms of the license state. Maybe you should get a subscription, then you can tell me how you are using the software.

@Fliplip, I think people in the UK and Europe are getting a raw deal. You guys don't deserve what MSFT is doing to you. I'm hoping that the legal system there changes their attitudes toward Microsoft and this whole browser fiasco. :)

"Maybe you should get a subscription, then you can tell me how you are using the software."

I have a technet subscription for some years now.

Regarding the browser fiasco, I am guessing the end is not near, as the EC hasn't said that it will allow Microsoft to get away with disabling IE8 on Win7, they are still trying to get the ballot screen in there.

I fully support Microsoft in this, and fully understand why they are dead set against providing that ballot screen. As a matter of fact, the European customers are getting an extremely good deal, as until at least the end of the year, they can purchase the full version of Windows 7, at upgrade pricing.

Getting a browser loaded on Windows 7 will be a breeze, and quite frankly, the average John or Jane Doe, get their Windows 7 on a new Pc, and their OEM would have loaded a browser in any case.
