Hello All,
I'm getting ready to order/build me a new system (below) & have a couple of questions.
I'm going to be re-using a couple of the parts from my current system (case, power supply & Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB) & just wanted to know what SATA ports I should use?

When hooking up the optical drive (ASUS DRW-24B1ST DVD Burner) & HDD (WD Velociraptor WD300GLFS-01F8U) I use the SATA II 3Gb/s ports correct?

It's been several years since I've built my last system & some things have changed.. I just want to make sure I do it right!
Thank's, Phil B.

Omg. That's a huge upgrade!

Anyway, yeah use the SATA II ports for SATA II drives, and SATA III the solid state drive (and all other future SATA III drives).

I'm guessing that board comes with 2 Intel SATA III ports and probably 4 SATA II ports. I would definitely use a SATA II port for the optical drive, and put the SSD on the first(most of the time labeled SATA 0) SATA III port. You can either put the WD VelociRaptor on the 2nd SATA III port, or save it in case you get another drive and put it on the SATA II port. I don't think the HDD's transfer speeds will even get near the cap for SATA II, so it won't be holding you back. The SSD definitely needs to be on the first SATA III port though as it will be held back by the SATA II cap.

I will look at the motherboard specs in a little bit when I have more time and give you a definite answer.

Right. It's a MicroATX board, and has only the Intel SATA controller (2 X 6Gb, 4 X 3 Gb). No chance for confusion with any third-party SATA controller as is sometimes added to full-sized ATX boards.

I second TwoCables. It ought to be an impressive upgrade.

Fairly similar to my build P7T only ZI got the HAF XM only a tiny difference in size and it is huge anyway but the price was much better.

Ar risk of starting WW3 the TX 650 I would go an HX 750 or slightly above - slightly bigger better than wishing you had gone bigger. I was lucky to get an HX 1050 that was on offer and despite like ti sounds a huge power eater it isn't see my UPS meter pic and I have two other monitors sound systems and a couple of lights running too. (my specs are listed if you are curious as to what is in my Ivy Bridge) :)

Thanks Guys,
I'll be ordering the system Thursday/Friday, I just can't wait.. there are several games I'm wanting to play & I think this upgrade should do quite well with most everything out right now!

I just noticed I missed something in my current system specs.. I also have a Creative SB X-FI Titanium installed.
Again.. Thanks, Phil B.
Here are a couple of pics of my current system.
