Any chance you could put a little formatting into this message and some spacing between your items? I wouldn't mind offering some suggestions, but the above looks just like a jumble of letters.

^ Thanks Mate.

The Intel motherboards are always a solid choice. Your case seems to come with a power supply. I usually say to get a name brand solid power supply as it's the heart and sole of your computer. Anything from Corsair, Antec, Seasonic and you cannot go wrong.

For light computer use, 4GB of RAM should be more than enough.

Might also suggest the Antec 300 case. It's currently $45 at NewEgg. It's not as flashy, and doesn't have a power supply...but it's build solid, it's quiet and it has a dust screen in the front which really helps to keep your computer clean. I've got 3 of these cases at work and I love them.

You might consider a system based on an I3-2100:

Newegg.com - Intel Core i3-2100 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I32100

It's not superior to an I3-540, but the 2100 is a second generation part.

It would require a Socket 1155 motherboard.

If you wish to use onboard graphics, you'd need one with an H67 or Z68 chipset. The H67 is the budget choice, but there are Z68 boards less expensive than the Intel H55 board that you suggested:

Newegg.com - ASRock Z68M/USB3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

I hope that I haven't muddied things too much.
