Not really. Reg cleaners can sometimes do more damage than good so MS wouldnt include one.

Thanks for getting back so quick. I agree with you. I just thought that if was built in by M/S it would do the job correctly.

This is what you are looking for and the safest. However, if you are already having issues,, any reg cleaner, even this one can cause more problems, but, that's why you are running it anyway. So, use with caution always. But this is the only one I would recommend.

I have seen many posts, that start off, I have a problem, since I used a reg cleaner. Just maintain your computer properly. If you are not sure how it is done, just ask. Many of the members will be very happy to give you information.

I believe there is an option to use without the reg cleaning.

My advice for the average computer user is DO NOT using a registry cleaner. If you do not have knowledge of the registry, then you are far better off leaving it alone, and definitely not placing blind trust in a program to do the job for you.
[FONT=&quot][/FONT]Win 7 does not need a registry cleaner. Forget all the "wisdom" you learned about XP. Win 7 is not XP and does not manage the registry the same as XP.

Win 7 is much more efficient at managing the registry than previous Windows versions. If you are very knowledgeable of the registry, you can use Ccleaner to delete keys left over when uninstalling programs. However, these few keys will not make 1 millisecond's difference in performance. If you run Ccleaner or any other registry cleaner and do not know precisely what you are doing, you will have problems down the road. There are no gains to be had from using a registry cleaner and the risk is great.

Not specifically.

Should you be tempted to look elsewhere for a registry cleaner -

Note - IMO - there is no reliable way for a third party program to know whether any particular key is invalid, redundant or neither. Some registry cleaners may not know for sure whether a key is still being used by Windows or what detrimental effects removing it may have. This has led to examples of registry cleaners causing loss of functionality and/or system instability.

Registry cleaners have a bad name because of a spate of pop-up ads that sell phony Registry cleaners as a sales scam with no real genius behind them.

This shortchanges the CCleaner, which over years fine-tuned their combination Disk and Registry cleaner to where it rarely makes mistakes. No active registry key is touched, only those remaining shells that clog the Reg. You can back up and later re-merge the Reg keys removed, although I no longer do that because it is that good.

The CCleaner stands apart from all others including DiskCleanup as the state-of-the-art industry standard. Running it monthly followed by the other best-in-field, Auslogics Disk and Registry defraggers, keeps all of my installs perfectly clean and ordered with nary a single issue here in ten years time.

Thanks for all the post. No I'm not having any problems. No I have not used a registry any thing. Was just wondering if M/S has one and is it any good. If they can't make one that people trust, I guess there is no such thing.

The only effective way to have a clean registry is to install windows on a clean HDD, install the programs you're going to use, and don't change anything. Everything else makes tracks

the registry is tiny , you could put redundant keys in there for the next 40 years and it wouldnt have any effect on its performance , so cleaning redundant reg keys is safe..................just pointless

Exactly. Win7's registry is very efficient.
