I have a problem.
C:\users\username\AppData\Local

Under Local, I am expecting to see Application Data, instead I see some folders in strings.
They are all empty.

History :
Just yesterday, I did a restore to factory settings becuase I was unable to login on newly created user accounts.
see reference link :
http://www.sevenforums.com/performa...-failed-login-user-profile-cannot-loaded.html

And now, while everything appears to be back to normal, I am facing this issue.
Need advice to ...
1. What are those empty folders ?
2. Are they safe to delete? I have a feeling they will reappear after deleted.
3. How do I get my Application Data folder back under Local ?
4. Are the 2 co-related ?

Thank you.

Hi t-4-2

These are normal. I have 50+ at the moment. It is said they are related to windows live mail/messenger and you get one created every time you open those programs. If you check the dates you will find theres almost one per day. I delete mine every few months with no consequences.

Thank you.
I have a different theory.
Some of those, if not all, are from MSE ( microsoft security essentials ). Eah time a MSE optional update is available, one empty folder is created.

Anyway, the more important question is ..... how to get Application Data folder back.

I mean this one ......this is very much different from the other screenshot. Please compare, the content are not the same under Local.

Interesting you say its related to MSE as I'm not using it at the moment lol. There are loads of threads about those folders but no conclusive evidence of where there from but they all reiterate the fact they are safe to delete.

Sorry, Show hidden files option is enabled.( If it wasn't, I would not have seen AppData after " username " ).
What I do not see is Application Data folder under Local.
Please view my 2 screenshots again.
