After I type in password it just spins. On start up I can press F2 and get to the advanced stage but there is no repair item to click on. I do have my discs to do a setup but am not sure how to do it. It also will not startup in safe mode. Could someone please help. Thanks,

David

Sounds like the Windows boot files somehow got hosed on your computer.

I use Samba to share my data drive with the other computers at my house and with my guest session in VMWare Workstation Player.
I hit the f12 key and ran a diagnostic test and it said my HD was messed up. I have noticed that when I go in safe mode it does not get the last line of code that some others do on You Tube. Thanks for the input.

Try the following steps: this may identify/fix the problem. Power down, then unplug the electric cord, before doing each step; then plug in and power up after doing each step.
  1. Unplug and replug your hard drive cable on each end of the cable. This will clean the connections.
  2. Plug the hard drive cable into a different SATA port on the motherboard.
  3. Swap cables with another device, or replace the hard drive cable.
