Can not restore from Acronis Migrate OR Win Back up

Hi Guys - 2 days and I am believing the backup & Restore is all BS and does not work.

Backed up using both Acronis Migrate & Win 7 backup. RAID 01...I think no one understands this...

Migrate old HDD to new HDD. Put this new HDD into PC with other new Drive... Re-build RAID...Now will not boot.

Tried to restore the Win back up - would not boot from system recovery disc... used Win 7 OS disc... could not find the external HDD where the back up is... I really am at my end... I watched the Winddows tutorials... all rubbish..

Can any one suggest step by step... and do no leave any steps out like most of the instructions....

Yeah, you can't do that. You have to build the array first and then restore the backup.
For Acronis, AFAIK you either restore to the array or if you have restored the whole backup to just one drive you can boot from that drive but you no longer have an array. Which is a good thing because Raid 0 is a bad thing.
For the win 7 boot disk that can't find the external HDD, make sure the HDD is not plugged in a USB 3 port.

But I want Raid 01. Does that mean cloning and Raid 01 do not work??

If the external HDD is not pluged into a USB port - then what do I plug it into?

So cloning is no good if you have Raid 01... then what do I do?

Yes cloning works, but if you want to keep the array after a restoration you need to restore to an array.
You can plug the USB drive in a USB2 port.

Not really understanding any of this.... from my perspective cloning back/up restore is a big con... does nto work.

If it does work which programme??

Why cannot I see my external HDD.

I am going to give up and get a mac

Acronis works fine. Build the array then boot from your acronis CD and restore.
If the external HDD is plugged into a USB3 port (it is coloured blue instead of black on the computer case) windows 7 dvd doesn't have drivers for the USB3 port. If it is plugged into a USB2 port (black) I have no idea: make sure it is powered if it needs and external power source, reseat the cables...

Thank you...done all that - still now working.

I will have to do it the old way. I know the backup/restore was all smoke and mirrors. No Acronis does not work. Well not for the normal guy
