Can you add a button to open and close the Windows Explorer navigation pane in Windows 7?

The toolbar button to toggle the Navigation Pane (and up directory) in Windows XP seems missing in Windows 7. I've been unable to find an option to bring it back nor have I found a plug-in which enables it.

Anyone have a way to let me quickly open and close the Nav Pane?

You need third party software

The only way I know of is to use third party software. Perhaps someone else will come up with a way to do it manually.

You can add a button to toggle the navigation pane on/off using:

WinAero: Explorer Toolbar Editor

(need to have network http.sendRefererHeader enabled for the download to work) - if you've disabled it previously.

The latest Classic Shell has buttons to toggle navigation pane, details pane and preview pane.
