Solved Cannot connect to Malwarebytes DNSAPI.DLL Missing

So my internet connection randomly went out tonight. I reset my modem/router several times, unplugged chords and made sure everything was plugged in. It showed the internet as connected (I wire my connection with a 40ft cable) however I could not access websites; it immediately gave me a screen saying that the website was unavailable. I also could not open League of Legends, it gave me an HTTP error. I tried to do a ipconfig /release and /renew. That didn't work for awhile as it was saying that media was disconnected. After shutting off my computer, removing the power chord, and restarting, that went away and I was able to flush the DNS and ipconfig everything... still no luck. I also tried the winsock resets as well.

I performed two system restores from different dates with no luck either. I also tried a startup repair and it did not detect any problems.

I tried to do a Malwarebytes scan as well however I can't open it. It gives me an error saying that "DNSAPI.DLL is missing". I removed windows firewall and tried that, no luck. I've also scanned with Microsoft Security Essentials, it removed a couple things but didn't fix anything. CMD prompt ping works just fine with no packet loss. And last but not least I am not able to connect to websites with direct IP addresses as well.

Other computers in my house are able to connect to the internet at perfect speeds. I'm not sure what to do at this point, any help would be appreciated. I'm guessing that it's a virus.

Also figured I would let you guys know that I tried opening browsers in safe mode with no luck. I also tried to make sure I wasn't using a proxy in google chrome however it's not letting me access the settings even under run as administrator. So I accessed the internet options through the run menu and the box for proxy is not checked.

I also cannot uninstall malwarebytes, it gives me a runtime error. For some reason I can't even download the mbam cleaner on a different computer ...

Ran ADWcleaner from a memory card from another computer. It removed a whole bunch of stuff but no luck. Should I try SFC???? Maybe adware corrupted DLLs???

Quick update ... Ran SFC /scannow and it said it found and repaired corrupted files. Rebooted and was able to uninstall malwarebytes with the mbam cleaner and then reinstall it. It is scanning right now. Still cannot connect to websites but hopefully after the scan everything will be good.

Still no luck guys. After a malwarebytes scan it removed about 90 PUP's and no malware. Did a restart but same stuff, can't connect to websites, immediate unavailable page in chrome and IE says proxy server isn't responding. Proxy server IS NOT checked in LAN settings. All other computers in the house work perfectly.

CMD prompt ping works just fine with no packet loss.

Did you ping an IP address or a text based URL (e.g. ping google.com)?

Hi username issues! The weirdest thing just happened.! I plugged in my Ethernet cable to a different port, restarted the router and computer ... And then opened up chrome. It wasn't working but then I went into the chrome settings and it had a notification on the top. It said something like "your settings were corrupted by a file or program click here to reset to default settings". I re opened chrome as administrator and I was able to connect. However I'm only able to connect when I run as administrator, why is this???

Same thing with IE ... Will only connect if I run as administrator.

It is dangerous to surf the Internet while browsers run with admin rights. Let's hope that the notification from Chrome was legit and not the result of an infection wanting you to run Chrome with admin rights so that it could do more damage.

Wow nvm.... Looks like it works without running admin now. Went through allowed programs in firewall settings and disabled /removed some of them I didn't recognize like "browser air" and "crossbrowse" and I don't know what this is but "svchost.exe" and "windows maintainer". Also would like to mention I did do two system restores to different dates previously, didn't work. Gonna do another malware scan and sfc scan and hope it's all gone for good!

on my Windows 10 pc defender puts dsnapi.dll in quarantine.
I recoverred it, ok.
