Cannot get Flash Player 11.8... to work with IE9

I have used the Adobe uninstaller to uninstall Flash Player and have deleted the files lingering in the Macromed and Macromedia folders as instructed on Adobe's site. I rebooted after the uninstall. Adobe utilities indicated no version was installed. I downloaded the current version and installed it from the download location (not while IE9 was running). This is Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit. Active X Filtering is turned off. I am using the 32-bit version of IE9. In ESPN, nothing will play and expanding the screen has no effect. I can move the mouse down the progress bar of the video and see still images of the video but it will not play. I have been working at this for several hours and I can't seem to get it resolved. I have done extensive research and tried a variety of things, but to no avail. One thing I have not tried is to install an earlier version of Flash but I haven't seeen anything that suggests that alternative will help. The add on shows in the Internet Explorer add on list as Shockwave Flash Object 11.8.800.94 Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind using Mozilla, but I really want to resolve this issue.

Have you confirmed Flash is installed and working correctly?

Find version

Is this an ESPN only issue? Do Youtube videos work?

Wow, looks like I'll be little help, the ESPN videos don't work at all for me in IE 9. I don't even show the flash info when I right click where the video should be. Works in FF though. A Guy

F12/ ie9 or Comp-view,
Active x version: 11.8.800.94
No plugin version,
32-bit system
See if Internet options/ Advanced section/ Check the top box-Use software rendering helps.

Good suggestion ThrashZone, but it did not have any effect. All elements of my system seem good, flash acceleration is turned off, I can see the proper version even in the ESPN videos that are not playing properly. The ESPN videos just will not play. All other websites seem to be fine. I have turned the "autoplay" function on ESPN off and that also does not help. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep looking.

I just wanted to note I do not have any Java installed,
Java's constant updating was so annoying I just Uninstalled it/ I do not play any games so Java is unnecessary for me personally.
Can't test the issue using my 64 bit machine because No flash player or Java exist.
