Hello,
I am a relatively new Win7 pro x64 user with just over a year experience. The most beneficial help I've found netwide is here on Windows 7 forum. Currently I have been hitting a wall with this issue and joined the forum in hopes of resolving it without screwing up an otherwise fine running system.

I am no fan of adobe's flash or reader applications. Given most malware rides within those formats I never installed reader and only recently removed flash since youtube went html5 video. I use PDF-XChange Viewer and have Javascript actions disabled. I try to keep pdf documents that I want to add notes and stuff out of the documents library after trying to delete a pdf document only to have the wait icon spinning forever without ever deleting the pdf document(s). Within Explorer, I cannot right click-> context menu -> properties dialog come up for any pdf files. I have a doPDF print driver installed for saving web pages as a pdf formated reference. The issue appears to be escalating with what I can't do with pdf files. I have installed the TakeOwnership context menu which functions fine except with pdf files. I get a blank cmd window when attempting to take ownership of any pdf file. I do not trust the unlocker app but run NirSofts OpenedFilesView which does allow me to kill locked up pdf files. I have to kill Explorer and restart it whenever I try to perform any file maintenance on a pdf file. Explorer preview pane works until I try to do any maintenance. Then it's a kill/restart cycle to regain windows explorer. I can open a pdf file, then add notes and save as another renamed file but I can not over write the original pdf.

This issue has me stumped. I have searched far and wide with no success and seek advice. Thanks

Found the culprit. The doPDF device running is version 7. The newer version phones home too much for me so I reverted back to ver 7. Uninstalled same and problem disappeared. Reinstalled same ver and so far so good.
