When I try to connect to my home network in Windows 7 RC 1 it says : The following error occured attempting to join the domain "My domain": The specified domain either doesn't exist or could not be contacted. What I do when I try to connect is I open up the start menu, then I right click computer and click properties. I then click change settings under computer name, domain, and network settings, I click change and type in the domain name and the error above comes up. Is this the right way to do this, or is there a different way to do this? I am also sure it is a samba network. If you need more details I can asked my dad.

Please help.

Mabe you should explain your setup a little more, how many pc's on network, what OS's. To join a domain network you need a domain controller running windows server products. Are you using a switch or router?

I would think if it is a home network you want set up a workgroup.

Right click on my computer, go to properties, click on advance settings on left pane.

Select Computer Name tab and click change button.

Change it to a workgroup and make sure your other comps on the network are members of the same workgroup.

Go to network and sharing center and make sure you have your connection set up as a home network and that file sharing and network discovery are turned on.

Lemme know if ya need more help

The network does have a domain. The domain controller is samba. And I can browse the network shared folders within windows explorer. XP and Vista connect to it just fine. It seems that I cannot create a trust with the network. Is this something in Windows seven that they haven't fixed, or something? I also have downloaded build 7137 and plan to install in a couple days. Is there a chance that may work?
