Solved Can't connect to internet. Wired or Wireless. Even in safe mode.

I'm trying to fix someones laptop. The wired and wireless internet won't work. The wireless card can see my home network, but after a about 30 seconds after trying to connect it says that the connection has been unsuccessful.

Since it didn't even work in safe mode I thought maybe it was something in the registry. I tried CCleaner and it didn't work.

Also tried, connecting to a different network, uninstalling the drivers (but computer keeps finding the drivers and reinstalling them) , some lines in the cmd that were supposed to reset my tcp/ip settings. I'm lost. Nothing else seems to be wrong with the computer, no other fishy activity. Thanks in advance.

btw Toshiba Satellite Win 7 x64, I have tried wireless and wired and multiple access points.

In Safe mode few drivers are running, unless you chose Safe mode with networking, and even then it'd probably only be the ethernet port that worked anyway.

Has your router been programmed with a MAC whitelist?

Resorting to a registry scrubber isn't an awfully good idea...

Are the correct drivers onboard for ethernet and WiFi adapters?

I tried safemode with networking.

The router hasn't been programmed to block any MAC addresses.

Yeah, I figured I'd just give the reg cleaner a try.

I don't believe the correct drivers are installed, but windows keeps on installing the old drivers when I try to install new ones. There must be some way to delete the old driver files.

Windows won't usually behave that way if you upgrade to the correct drivers manually.

Extract any compressed driver archives and try doing it through Device Manager...

I'll try that now. In the meanwhile have you encountered this? Properties is disabled.

Toshiba only has one LAN driver for my laptop for Win 7 64 bit. I extracted to desktop and through dev manager tried to update, but it said I have the best one available already. Only other lead I have is that when Windows starts up I get a pop-up from a program that TCP/IP is not installed. Any ideas?

Did you back up your registry before using CC Cleaner on it?

if you can access internet through Ethernet plug the laptop in go to device manager uninstall the wireless driver on the laptop reboot the laptop go to the device manager and update the wireless driver windows should download the appropriated driver and install from its servers. thus resetting your wireless configuration.

have you tried the troubleshooter? copy and past this in to the windows 7 start menu search box and click on the top result troubleshoot network
