Here's the deal:

Homegroup listener and homegroup provider are both running. I don't have the folder option under C:\Windows\serviceprofiles\networkservice\appdata... (appdata) does not come up as a choice. So my search stopped there.
I have tried the troubleshooter with no avail and all sorts of pre-mentioned tasks...

Help!

Hello quin, and welcome to Sevenforums!

Type Homegroup into your start menu search bar and click the program at the top with the same name.

If there is no option to leave homegroup in the window that pops up, you aren't a part of a homegroup.

To disable homegroup services (advanced user), go to Services and disable HomeGroup Provider and HomeGroup Listener.

You may need to enable "Show Hidden Files and Folders" in Device Manager>Folder Options, "View" tab in order to see the idstore.sst file.

The fix seems to be Deleting the file idstore.sst under C:\windows\serviceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking

It might also help to Start the Task Manager Click on the service Tab, find the "HomeGroupProvider" and stop it.

You may need to go back into services and enable PeerNetworking and HomeGroupProvider again after the fix. Don't forget to restart all machines after making those changes.

You will need to do this on both machines.

These are the only known fixes available for these problems and this procedure has worked many times to fix both of the problems you are seeing.
