Solved Cant load windows 7 to ssd

Geez, I had to pay for my version. But, it was well worth it.

I have even a sadder story. I paid the $20 bucks and then decided to do a Clean Install. I have never used it.

Well feed me a bone and call me rover ,i disconected my sata hdd and booted from the windows 7 cd and it said loading files ,then 15 mins later i get a message to reboot ,ok no probs but when the screen apears this time i have windows 7 twice ,it seems i must have had it installed on the ssd .Now how do i delete one of the os as i can only use my product key once .grrrrrrrrrrr

Post a screenshot of your Disk Management so that we can see what mess you really made. Then we'll go from there.

When you rebooted, did you still have only the SSD drive connected and did you get a screen asking whether you wanted to boot into Windows7 or Windows 7? Go into bios and set the DVD as first boot device and the SSD as second boot device, remove the DVD, make sure the SSD only is connected and save and exit. Do you still get the dual boot screen?

yes i still only have the ssd conected,ill try changing the boot device .brb

Please, right click computer, select manage, in the left column select disk management and post a screenshot of the window expanded so both the upper and lower part is showing. Don't activate Windows right now.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see anything wrong. bigcroc, I also see you have the Gigabyte driver disk in the DVD. You would be much better off going to their website and downloading the latest drivers, the one's on the disk are old drivers. Please press the windows key (the one with the flag) hold it down and press R. In the box that appears type msconfig, and OK, click the boot tab and see if you see 2 installations of Windows 7. At this point it would be easier to reinstall than to spend the time fixing this, any disagreements?

ok ill have a look i tried to download the latest drivers but could not find them on the gigabite site .
ok i typed msconfig i see windows 7 {;CWINDOWS CURRENT OS DEFAULT OS

and also
windows 7 {/windows}

On the website under support and downloads, select driver and then select your OS.

OK thanks so much for all your help im going to follow your advice and do a clean install.then find my drivers on the gigabite site and all my other hardware.May you and yours have a fantastic newyear .Thankyou also to everyone else that helped me .

Rob, before you do the clean install, let us know. If you are willing to gamble, I'll try something. Will you have another computer to contact us while doing the install? Also, when you download the drivers, it is easier to download them to a USB flash drive or a CD.

Essenbe i just formated the ssd and now installing from the start alls good so far ,yes i have another pc ,woos thinks its to late to try anyway thanks i hope this works now .ok ill download them to the usb then install from there thanks again

Try running a Disk Cleanup to make sure there are no old system files
Check your alignment just to make sure scroll down to verification
If you don't use hibernate you can save 4Gb of space on your SSD by disabling it.
Turn Off Disk Defragmenter
