Can't open netplwiz or control userpasswords2

I can get to the icon for netplwiz but when I click on it, it asks me for the "Admin password and then click Yes" but doesn't give me a place to enter it and only has "NO" available.

Also under User Accounts/ "Change User Account Control settings" it gives me the same as above.

I've been playing around with having a password to Logon and don't know of anything else I did.

Also Run/"control userpasswords2" gives me the same request for Admin password but no place to enter it.

You could look in Control Panel -> User Accounts to see if your account has "Administrator" under it.

I can get into that computer thru my network if that would enable me to see the Admin name. I've been logging in at startup. Would that be my admin password?

Since you are seeing a "Other User" option on the log on screen, you might see if this is the issue in the tutorial below to sort it.
If you are unable to do what's in the tutorial, then see if you may be able to do so from the built-in Administrator account. If you area unable to enable it normally, then you could try to do so at boot.

Well, I'm about done. Luckily this is my spare so if I have to rebuild it's not the end of the world. Don't know how the "Guest" user got triggered. Thanks for the help.

but, as for now, the "guest" account seems to be doing everything I need.
