Solved can't pin to taskbar

I use the taskbar routinely for applications I use frequently. I just downloaded and installed Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer. I never used that before, but this is for a machine on which I don't have Powerpoint. Seems to work fine. Somewhat bizarrely, though, I CANNOT pin that application to the taskbar. If I right click on the application icon, it doesn't even offer me the option of doing so, as I am offered with every other application.

What's going on???

Open PowerPoint Viewer.
When it appears on the Taskbar, right tick the Taskbar (PowerPoint Viewer) icon and select (Pin to Taskbar).

Nice idea, except when I open PowerPoint Viewer, it doesn't even appear in the taskbar. WTF? I already have ten apps in the taskbar, but PowerPoint Viewer just doesn't want to be there, no matter what. Something has preset that app to avoid being in the taskbar.

In the first solution, PowerPoint Viewer isn't even listed in Administrative Tools. I don't think the second pertains. I don't see something disappearing. I just can't make it appear.

Hi Dramx, Have you tried from the start menu, all programs, to see if it is listed and then right click

pin to taskbar.

Yes, PowerPoint Viewer is right there, in the list of All Programs. But unlike almost everyone else there, right click doesn't offer me an option to pin to taskbar. Like Powerpoint Viewer, Windows Update also doesn't want to be attached to the taskbar. Something about those two apps that is preventing them from being put on the taskbar.

Hi again, Have you tried under Program Files (x86), open Microsoft Office, Office 14, open, right click

PPTVIEW and pin to taskbar. I do not have this program installed, just found these instructions on the

internet.

Yes! That did it. Right click PPTVIEW. That let me pin Powerpoint Viewer to that taskbar. Slightly perverse that you can't do it the normal way, doing a right click on Powerpoint Viewer. Many thanks, ethel! You folks are good.

Of course, PPTVIEW *is* the Powerpoint Viewer application. Now, the programs listed in All Programs (including Powerpoint Viewer) are just links, but you can pin all those other links to the taskbar. No can do for the link to Powerpoint Viewer.
