I recently switch from Spectrum to At&t internet. I know that i have to establish a new connection with my printer, but i cant seem to get it printing. I already uninstalled/reinstalled the software, twice. My printer shows up in Devices/Printer, but everytime i print it just says error can not print.

Before i got at&t new internet i was using my own modem and separate router. BTW, the modem and router were like old 3-5 years old. The new At&t modem seems like its way more secure and has a firewall. Im guessing since its more secure that i have to enable something to get the printer communicating with the PC.

Also im connecting my Printer(Canon MP495) wireless because the usb on the printer seems like its broken, (it installs completely fine though with wireless connection.)

I dont know what to do, please help.

restarted pc, reinstalled software, but my pc wont detect the printer. i go to devices and printers to add but it wont find printer. The wireless can't be broken because when i had Spectrum internet it was working completely fine.

I'm guessing its the firewall on the new Modem(at&t), but i dont know anything about those settings.

OMG!, i figured it out after 7 hours.

Ok, in the Canon Printers, there is a button called the "tool" button. I read the manual (also on disk) that you have to set a symbol thats on a small screen on the printer. Theres like 10 or something symbols and they each do something different.

You set it on a certain symbol by pressing the tool button and it resets the wifi to factory default setting.
Then i made sure and enabled wifi using the tool button again.
Then i set another symbol on the printer using the tool button to print out wps pin code thats stored in the printer.
I then started to add printer on Windows 7 and i set the tool button on a symbol and the wifi button starts to blink on the printer and it means that you set it on detection mode and thats it!

It will ask for a code thats in the print out you just did. Enter it and it will show up and just press next a few times and windows installs the drivers and it hooked up blue tooth because my usb connection on my printer is damaged, so i had to do this way. If i used a cord, im assuming it would of been alot easier.

For future reference, I have found Canon wireless printers to be notorious for not being seen on the network. What I have had to do was tell it that I wanted to do the wireless setup with a USB cable. It would then do all the necessary configuration to get the printer onto the network, after which I could remove the USB cable and print to it wirelessly.

Once it is on the network, you should have no trouble installing it on other computers. They will be able to find it, because it is now on the network. The first computer trying to install the printer is the problematic one.
