Solved Can't Stop Sharing

Windows 7, Network Sharing Center, Change Advance Sharing, Public, Turn Off Printer and File Sharing. Every time I try to change this to turn off and click Save Changes, and then come back, the Turn On Printer and File Sharing is enabled again. If I go to Home group and uncheck Printer and Video under Share Libraries and Printers, and go back to see if changes are saved, the Printer and Video boxes are checked again. What's up with that? I've done all of this including restart and still it defaults back to yes on file and printer sharine. Chuck

Make sure you are using a administrator account.

Thanks but I am using administrator account and sharing is not password protected. This is driving me crazy and I am concerned that this might be a security flaw. Chuck

Can you stop sharing through Computer Management - Shared Folders - Shares - right click and Stop Sharing?

Sorry but where is Computer Management? The sharing options are in the Network and Sharing Center. Chuck

Right click Computer and select manage (or Win+R - compmgmt.msc).

The shares that you will see ending with $ are administrative shares, no need to stop them.

OK, I did find that but can see no way to change the way anything is shared or not or help with my original issue. Right clicking on any items gives no option to stop sharing.Chuck

Are you sure you have administrator rights?

Please do these (copy the command below and right click inside cmd and select paste):
- Open cmd

echo %username% |clip

- paste here
- in cmd:

net localgroup administrators |clip

- paste here

Sfc /scannow
Tell us if corrupt files are found but not fixed.

What happens if you create a new admin account and try to stop sharing with it?

Scan completed and says, Windows resource Protection could not perform the requested operation. Changing the admin account has no affect. Using Administrator Command Prompt. Chuck

The 2 files corrupt seem to be repaired.

Re-run sfc /scannow to make sure, no need to attach new sfcdetails.txt if nothing is found.
