Has anyone had this problem? They have installed a new program in compatibility mode (eg. XP SP3) and after restarting their pc, there is a yellow exclamation mark is in the CD/DVD-Rom Driver in Device Manager.

I had this problem and had to uninstall the driver which installed itself on restarting the computer. Is this a known problem? I tested this on two seperate laptops; one with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 and both came up with the same issue.

I can't remember the particular program, as I was testing quite a few, but most were made for XP from 2002-2006.

What is interesting is that the problem with cd/dvd rom drive on device manager was replicated on two seperate laptops (with 32 and 64 bit).
