First of all, I apologize if this is a rather benign question. I've been doing research for a couple hours now, and haven't quite figured out how to fix this problem.
The problem being, I'm trying to transfer files from a hard drive enclosure (this one, to be exact) onto my Windows 7 64-bit computer. I only need a few specific files, and I figured I could just copy them from the hard drive directly onto my computer. When that didn't work, I did some more research and figured out that it was a matter of folder permissions.
This post perfectly sums up my problem. When I go to a file and change permissions manually, I'm able to copy the file onto my computer without any problems. If I don't change permissions but simply grant myself ownership, about a million error messages are thrown my way (the exact same problem as this post).
I followed the advice on the first post (the one about changing folder permissions) and, though it worked for that person, I keep getting the error message:
An error occurred while applying security information to:
G:\NAME OF FOLDER
Access is denied.
My options are "Continue" or "Cancel". The pop-up shows up for every single file within that folder.
Now, I could go to every file within a folder and change permissions manually, but that might take a small eternity since I'm seeking to transfer several hundred music files onto my computer. All I need to know is how to change folder permissions for every folder, subfolder, and file. Any advice would be much appreciated!
And go easy on me, I'm not very computer savvy.
