sure... i watched it , but the partition wizard on the film has loads more options. the one i have has alot less.... and the partition tab that shows the move/resize option is greyed out !

You must highlight the partition you want to resize, in this case C. Rightclick C, select Resize, in the small window that opens up grab the right border and slide it to the left to where you want it, or type into the box the exact size in MB I gave you, click OK. If it looks correct, then Apply the step.

I would use the boot disk since Win7 apparently has files blocking resizing, although you can try it from the Windows version first. There also is a slight chance of resize failing in the Windows version, which is why it's recommended to use the boot disk. So have your data backed up if you use the Windows version.

not that i know how to back up data... but i dont have any data i need to back up... all i have on my computer now is the windows 7 + sp 1 and up to date downloads . nothing else.... and there,s a load of stuff on that HDD drive (D) , about a 150 GB OF stuff but i have no idea whats in that !

hi there... i ran disk defragmenter (C) drive only ... then ran disk cleanup.. then ran defragmenter again (C)drive only , but the amount did not change. its the same as i stated earlier.

Disk cleanup and defragmentor will not change the size of a drive.

ok, i checked it out... it seems quite easy but how do i make another partition (as in another drive eg, drive F, which i once had) and move the space to it from drive C ?

I gave you the link earlier to Create PArtition in Disk management once you resize C.

Are you using disk management or Partition Wizard ?

Either way you just right click on the empty space to create a new volume.

oh no... this is NOT going well at all !!! i used partition wizard. divided my C drive , so it was reduced from 232 GB to 116 GB . after i had done that it asks me to restart. the original problem is that i cannot restart or shutdown . so i leave it and that blue screen appears saying ' cannot restart driver power state failure' ! it shuts down automatically. i then power on and once it starts up, i click on my computer and check the drives . there is NO new drive of 116 GB !!! my C drive containing my windows 7 stuff has been reduced to 116 GB from the 232 GB..........BUT 116 GB IS MISSING !!!

wait a minute.... i went into disk management and there is a 116 GB unallocated box alongside my C drive box. its just not showing up when i click start/computer ???

You did not divide your C drive, you shrunk (or resized) it to 116gb. Now you have Unallocated Space to its right. So follow the steps here to create a new partition in the Unallocated space: Partition or Volume - Create New. This is the third time I've posted that blue link for you.

You were working with Arc to solve the Blue Screen. Did you answer his questions? Make sure or he may be done with you.

ok... i,m nearly there...its asking me for volume label...name i want for new partition ? what do i have to put in that box ? can i rename it anything i want ?
