Check disk will not run

Hi guys
Im still unable to get chkdsk to run on reboot.Tried from cmd and from disk options.I just get the countdown screen on reboot then at 1 it loads windows as usual.Have tried to run from recovery console but chkdsk c: comes up as volume label is SYSTEM RESERVED !! which i dont understand at all because the only labelled partition is the main acer c: drive.Anyone else suffering from this problem.
The laptop was shop bought and pre installed with the OS.
Any help i would be grateful

From recovery console? You mean you booted into WinRe and ran it from there?

Drive letters are different from WinRe. Probably find your main windows partition is D from there.

Check it out.

Boot to command prompt, type:

diskpart

lis vol

( see what the drive letter allocation is )

exi

Thankyou for clearing that up.Just out of interest why is it d: and not c: from recovery.Any ideas on running disk check on boot cant get it to work no matter how hard i try

Hi Danny,

It is the other way round. Why would it "know" what is inside your installed version? The drive letters assignment for your installed o/s is listed in it's registry.

The mini version of windows you booted up doesn't automatically know what is in your installed o/s. They are separate.

Had a look at reg entries and mine are correct downloaded file anyway and merged.Tried chkdsk again and same result countdown to 1 and windows starts arggghhhh so frustrating.I only have the one drive am i right in thinking it has to be done on reboot because the drive would always be in use.Any other ideas thanx mate

Boot into windows and try running sfc /scannow from command prompt

Tried that says no problems found.Ran fsutil dirty query and c is not dirty which is the good news i suppose but chkdsk still wont run.thankyou

Have you got a 32 bit Win7 install./recovery disc?

Its the 64 bit version but no anyway it was pre installed new.I have a system back up disk and and created my own 64 bit repair disk but thats the same as the repair program at boot i think.thanx

You should be able to run it by booting the recovery cd to command prompt.

Have been mixing c and d up in rec console but thats run now and now runs from recovery on hard drive without dissmounting the drive.Couldnt transfer messages to event log though but presumably thats normal from recovery.Still wont schedule a check on reboot though dont know what thats about but al least i can run it from recovery.

Disk check always cancelled.

I am using window7 64bit. when i tried to carry out disk check it required me to restart my laptop(schedule disk check). then when i restart my laptop the disk check will be cancelled itself, i didnt press any key. Hw can this be?
