Chipset Drivers

Two questions

1. Does Windows 7 automatically install chipset drivers?
2. Which part of the device manager is the chipset?

It's my understanding that chipset drivers are provided by either the motherboard manufacturer or the computer manufacturer. Just as an example, when I visit the Dell support site for my laptop I have these driver options:

I don't think Windows 7 installs those drivers. And I haven't located my chipset drivers in Device Manager.

Its my understanding that the windows operating system will load some basic drivers needed to make your system usable so you can load the windows operating system. Some of those will be chip-set drivers that I believe are submitted by the various manufactures like NVidia ,AMD etc. The chip-set driver package you download from your motherboard manufacturer will almost always be newer and more specific to your hardware than the ones included with windows. As far as looking for them in device manager they are there, they are just scattered about. Click on system devices and I'd say most of that list if not all are related to your chip-set drivers. The motherboard chip-set interfaces to all of the hardware on the motherboard. Well it used to when the north bridge and south bridge chips were both on the motherboard. I'm sure if I hadn't mentioned that someone would have corrected me.

W7 has stock drivers for practically everything. My mobos use the Intel chipset, X58 and EP45, got drivers from Gigabyte site but its Intel software.
I can't remember but your ASUS mobo could be nVidia chipset??????? n-Force drivers.
Goto the ASUS website, they will have the latest drivers for your board, as well as bios updates.
