Chromium Doesn't Recognize Java Install

This problem has existed for YEARS, and it NEVER gets fixed. So, I see the Java Update icon appear in my Sys Tray, and proceed to install the latest ver. 1.7.67 I believe, although, I know I saw a ver. 8.xx somewhere. At any rate, it says it installed successfully:sarc::sarc: REALLY? But as usual, when I try to vfy the install it's not there. Can't JAVA EVER get their act straight so it just installs seamlessly. And please don't say it works by downloading it first. I just want it to work.:(:(

See, now I just went to the Chrome help, and clicked on the "Verify Java Install" or whatever it is, and it ends up telling me to download the latest version WHICH I JUST INSTALLED, AND ALREADY HAVE!!!!

I know Flash is, and Java maybe also. Regardless, it screws up every time I try to update it. After all, if it DOES update itself, then why doesn't the Java "verifier" verify it? That makes my original question even MORE pertinent.
