Clean install windows home premium will not update after service pack 1

Tried the current ISO that includes sp1 tried the Microsoft update repair tool it fixed some errors but could not fix 0x80070057

Formatted again and used a Microsoft disk without sp1 put the updates on all fine till sp1 then no updates.
Removed sp1 update working again found optional updates and sp1
Installed sp1 again then no updates

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

Windows update failure after fresh install of Win7 Home Edition

Similar issue here: I decided to reinstall my version of Win7 Premium Home Edition SP1 on my laptop. I also removed the default HDD partitions and created only 1 large partition instead.

Installation went fine, but Windows Update isn't able to download the latest updates. I ran the Microsoft Diagnostic tool which generated error 0x8024402c.

I am attaching the logs.
