I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S4757 laptop and it originally came with Windows Vista Home Premium, but I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. If I did a clean install, would this wipe out my upgrade to Windows 7?

did you download an ISO image? or .exe file? I think you can burn this to a disc, but I dont have enough info yet on how to.

If you look at the Tutorial for Custom install, was this the way you were going to do the install you were planning?

It was through digitalriver.com. They teamed up with Microsoft. Also, it says the unlock code on the receipt. I assume that is the same thing as the lic key, correct me if I'm wrong.

You don't need to burn it to a DVD or move it to a USB. All you need to do it run "setup.exe" from the download and follow the prompts and do a custom install. You could have the whole thing extracted to your documents folder it does not matter.

You can, by the way, burn an .exe to disk using most popular burning software's. Just create it as a data CD. However, the easiest option would be as theog said, just use a Memory Stick.

Microsoft made good on providing student ISO download here: Microsoft Fixes Windows 7 Student Edition Upgrade Problems

You can unlock all versions using ei.cfg removal tool on .ISO: Ei.cfg Removal Utility Lets You Use Any Product Key With Your Windows 7 Disc Then burn to DVD or write to USB flash stick: Microsoft Store: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool Help

When you boot the Win7 installer, it will scan the HD to see any prior OS which is enough to pass flag allowing Upgrade version key, even if you then use Custom>Drive Options to Delete, create New and Format partition(s). If not, use one of the workarounds given here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31402-clean-install-upgrade-windows-7-version.html
