That model has Nvidia Optimus Switchable graphics. So open the Nvidia Control Panel which should be on a tab on the Nvidia Display Driver in Device Manager. Look for controls for Switchable graphics and try all settings.

You may need to work in Safe Mode with Networking on Advanced Boot Options or if you can get into Device Manager Roll back the Nvidia driver on its Driver tab.

Yes.

Yes. After installing it... each time i power on the computer now... within 40 seconds or so my computer will freeze. Im downloading the teamviewer on it right now but it froze.


Next try the Nvidia driver and software package from the Drivers tab on the page I gave you to read about Optimus Switchable graphics.

At the moment theres nothing i can do on this laptop b/c within 40 seconds it will freeze.

Reboot and tap F8 to boot into System Recovery Options to System Restore to before the driver.

Try the Drivers | GeForce AutoDetect GPU to be absolutely sure you're getting the right device models driver. This will involve installing some software they will hand you. Read about it on the green link.

If that fails install the 64bit GeForce 300M software package from dropdowns.

That does work. It doesn't freeze. Im downloading teamviewr right now at the moment while on safe mode with networking.

Installed Nvidia latest driver package which also black screened at reboot. So WUD, Asus and Nvidia drivers are not stable for the Nvidia 310 Switchable graphics.

Web searches show previous problems with overheating when that kicks in.

So the choice is to keep searching for a stable driver or disable the device in Device Manager to test performance overall without it. I'd do both.

Okay the screen is black yet again. Im going to restart it and then click start normally

Screen went black again after the 3rd attempted update with the nvidia driver. I then just rebooted and just disabled the nvidia driver.

So most likely my nvidia driver the internal just have problems or it has overheatting which could be the reason for this.


However, he also installed heating program in the computer to check temperature but it doesnt seem to be heating issue.

The card has a web history of this same behavior on your model. It may be accessible from door underneath to reseat, replace or remove if it causes issues - doors are shown in Manual but nothing about card or switchable graphics except in Specs and complaints.

See if Intel is adequate. Seems snappy so far. Watch closely.
