Solved Cleaners

Which is the best cleaning software for windows 7????????????

I am using Tuneup Utilities 2010 at the moment, i am not sure about the rest.

Hi, may I ask why you need to use a cleaner?
FYI - You may care to read the below observation re registry cleaners.
My advice would be to steer clear of these.

A guide for the average computer user for NOT using a registry cleaner follows -

IMO & to the best of my knowledge -
1.Windows is a closed source system, developers of registry cleaners are not working on definitive information, but rather empirical knowledge. Automatic cleaners will usually have to do some guesswork.
2. Modifying registry keys incorrectly can cause Windows instability, or make Windows unbootable.
3. No registry cleaner is completely safe and the potential is ever present to cause more problems than they claim to fix.

THEREFORE
4. If you do not have knowledge of the registry, then you would probably be better off leaving it alone, and definitely not placing blind trust in a program to do the job for you.

I am with you. everyone is saying which one is best. I am saying the best one is not to use one in the first place.

Thanks

CCleaner and other cleaners are tools and you need to watch how you use them. A hammer is a great tool but if you don't pay attention you could hit your thumb. Same with any of these cleaners. If you don't understand what it is doing, don't use it.

I've used ccleaner for years, 2K, XP, Vista and 7 builds.
Always used all the options in cleaner except the last, Wipe free space...ONLY because it takes too long.

I too have used it's registry cleaner on dozens and dozens of machines. Never a single problem...not one.

I also use their defraggler utility as well. While no two people usually agree on what program does what best, it's a good utility and has served me well.

The truth is that the Wipe Free space feature is what some people in the Piriform forums call a dark feature of CCleaner. If you are doing an average cleaning, please DO NOT use Wipe Free Space because not only does it take long, what it does is basically fill the selected drive or drives with huge volumes of data then clear those up to wipe free spaces. That can shorten the life of your hard disk and should be used only if you are about to sell the computer for instance.
