Solved Cleaning the computer case

That is not a question that can be answered easily by a non-user, such as myself. The maximum temperature on that video card is 105 degrees, but maximum temp is not really the issue here. Your idle temp and game temperatures are not that unusual, but usual is determined by your own hardware configuration...particularly overall case cooling. I have a 8800GTS in my HTPC, which is encased in an old Antec, which has lesser cooling that my desktop, and I would not be surprised at those temps there. Even on the desktop, I would only be concerned, not scared.

What I was more interested in was the CPU/System temps, because because the system temperature doesn't normally rise very much on CPU activity, but your's did...that is curious, and deserves a closer look. Also, for simplicity and ease of use, I would disable -12 volt reading, because it is false, and also anything that else, like unused fans, and even Speeds, if you aren't going to use them.

EDIT: Thinking further on this, since the System Temp is "usually" Temp 2, which is an unrealistic number, I would tend to suspect that the motherboard is not sending a proper temp signal for it. If so, that might also be a sign of a possible defective motherboard, but before deciding that, you need to confirm all of the temp values with some other monitoring program. Everest is one that many people use.

Could be a defective motherboard. This one i have was very cheap and pretty bad, i guess. And btw, when i want to check temps with everest, where should i go? Because the computer>sensor looks like this:

Untitled4.jpg

And it worked 3 days ago.

EDIT: Installed AIDA64:

CPU: 40c
CPU #1: 34c
CPU #2: 33c
MCP: 52c
GPU Diode: 51c
ExcelStor technology J8160s: Requires the full version to show the temp.

So, at least while idle, the temperatures are almost the same, with about 4c difference between the Cpu #1 and #2 and Temp 1 and the second Temp 1.

When I said that Everest is a program that some people use, I was not including myself. I have broke it out a couple of times for cross-reference, but not enough to know it well. I don't see anything that looks like a system temp in those readings, One that I am unfamiliar with is MCP. I Googled it and found a Wikipedia article with a list of definitions, of which several were possible, but the closest appeared to be Mathematical Coprocessor. That is not something that I know from the AMD processors that I have used, but then I never had the 5000+ either. I would continue to look for a system temp, since that one is more indicative of overall cooling that the others.

It wouldn't hurt to try it, but I doubt that has anything to do with it shutting down during games...but who knows.

Heh, turns out the cpu fan was broken... Funny, because it was spinning and i didn't notice any cracks or stuff like that. The computer store got it replaced for 20 euros ( about 29$ ). I'll pick it up tomorrow. Thanks for help!

I'm assuming that is a stock fan. It's probably too late now, but it would have been good to have applied that cost toward the purchase of a better HS/F.

@4eyes:

Glad your solution turned out to be a pretty simple one.

The first thing I think of when a PC shuts down suddenly is heat related issues. I knew I was close to the problem, just the wrong processor .

After you replace the CPU fan let us know how things turn out.

:D
