Hi...
I tried to clone a smaller system hdrive (750 GB) Seagate, with a 1TB Seagate. I used Seagate DiscWizard. I ended up with a problem or two.
1. DiscWizard completed successfully, but it shrunk the 1TB partition to match the old hdrive of 750GB. I was hesitant to use the free ease4us Partition Master to resize it, since DiscWizard left a lot of unallocated space. This is new to me. I was afraid to make any changes. If I resize the clone...I won't have another problem will I?

2. If I did a clone with the above hdrives with free Macrium, will I end up with the partition shrunk to the old hdrive 750 GB partition?

3. When I tested the DiscWizard clone, it was ok and loaded up as the system drive. But when I tried to use Windows Update...it was in red and shutoff. I went to Service and 'start' the Windows Update and reboot the machine then, again, tried Windows Update...still in red and left message as before.
I don't have any idea on how to get Windows Update to START UP. I don't know that kind of troubleshooting. I would like to know in case I have to deal with that error with being unable to get Windows Update to work. I'd appreciate knowing how and what to do.

I have an HP Pavilion...Windows 7 64 bit
If I didn't make myself understandable, please ask me to clarify.
With much appreciation...strum101

DiscWizard left a lot of unallocated space
Worth trying as the first step: control panel > troubleshooting > Fix problems with W updates

Regarding the disk, it's normal that the used disk space (partition) is equal to the source, after all it was a clone job. If the disk is in good shape there will (should!) be no problems to extend the current partition to incorporate the unallocated space, using something like EaseUS Partition Master or MiniTool Partition Wizard.

Thanks for the reply...I appreciate that.
I took down your Windows Update troubleshoot idea...I may need to know this in the future.
Thanks again...strum101
