I am asking about cloning or fresh installs to an SSD and not addressing whether the starting OS is good. This is almost always for fairly recent and good working OS files. Personally I usually can easily do cloning or fresh installs so that is usually not an issue other than a little time.
Since SSD’s do not get fragmented like mech hd’s is there any reason why the cloning would not be properly written to the SSD locationwise? Does it not matter as all of the data is readily and as quickly readable however it is written to the drive? I am mostly talking about SSD to SSD, but addressing mech hd to SSD could be informative also. Should a mech hd OS be defragged before cloning? Thanks for any info/opinions.
