CoD 4 -"Lock on Requred

Hello,i know this is a few years but after playing CoD 6 demo,thought i'd start with modern warfare 1,thing is i'm stuck on a level where i have to blow up tanks on a bridge,i pick up the javlin(rocket launcher) but for the life of me i cant "Lock on Required target",
before i download patches and updates,could someone please tell me if its a bug or me,i've read in forums to wait and listen for beep,and told a white box should appear,but, Nothing,what am i doing wrong?? , any help would be appreciated,thanks

you should just have to scope up and aim at it for a few secs , the javellin will beep then let out a high pitched whine when its locked on then you can fire , if its not doing this it may be a bug , you should really patch the game up with all available updates before you start playing , gets rid of all the little bugs

ps make sure you watch the missile launch and destroy the target.it looks fantastic

Make sure that you aren't too close to your target and make sure nothing is blocking your vision.

you cant get anywhere near the target....its about a mile away on a bridge

Go back upstairs and stand on the roof... be mindful of the snipers on the bridge. Fire away.

Thanks for all youre replys, All i had to do was restart the level and it worked first time, the white target box appeared after a second or so,Thanks
