Completely reset all network properties?

I believe I messed up the network settings on my machine (not via the router, but via control panel, when you right click on the Local Area Connection>Properties>IPv4/IPv6, and some more places, I can't remember and that's the problem)

Another thing is, when I type ipconfig /all, I see that DHCP is not enabled, and I remember it used to be enabled. (In IPv4 and IPv6 properties, everything is set to automatically.. so I dont know why)
web pages take too long to load (40 Mbps connection, the rest of computers on the network are surfing the web fast)

I also get an error a few times a day, where the little symbol of the LAN in the taskbar has a yellow exclamation mark, and I need to right click and do the Troubleshoot problems, and at the end I always get "The default gateway was not available". and it's fixed, but keeps coming back.

I tried something I found on Microsoft help page, and ran the following cmd: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

That didn't help

Why did you feel the need to fiddle with the network settings? Was something wrong?
Go back to the network adapter settings, untick the automatic IP on ipv4, untick the whole ipv6 option, ok. go back into properties of the network adapter, re-set ipv4 to auto IP, leave ipv6 unticked, OK. Open command prompt type
ipconfig /release, press ENTER. When it has done what it's supposed to do type ipconfig /renew and press Enter. Do you now have a gateway?
If yes: type ipconfig /all and check the DHCP. If no luck restart the router (if you also have a modem shut down router first then modem, restart modem first, wait for it to stop blinking lights at you then restart the router) Check ipconfig /all again.

I tried to set static ip (Until I realized I can't just change settings, and I need to pay my host for that to work)
When I do ipconfig /release I get: An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified.

The problem is not that I do not have Gateway completely. but every once in a while it isn't working and the troubleshooter solves it (few times a day). and when I type ipconfig /all I still see DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . .:no (It should be yes if I recall correctly, but maybe Im wrong?)

"I tried to set static ip (Until I realized I can't just change settings, and I need to pay my host for that to work)" Yes, I know, but you need to get windows to re-write some files so put in a static ip different from what your ip shoud be. then disable and re-enable the lan adapter. then try again but run ipconfig/flushdns first, then ipconfig/release
All this assuming you have not changed anything router side! Sure you didn't try to acces the network interface on the router?

I did try to access the network interface on the router
I just didn't mention that, because it's a coincidence, but I got a new router after I did that with completely new interface and settings (Or maybe they automatically transfer the settings from older router to newer? :O)

No ISP will give customer static IP.

Router normal do not need any much setting to do.
Unless you want to change SSID and password.

Some router do have indicated the SSID and password on the router itself, mostly behind or below.

Just connect and use.

Direct connection via LAN cable do not need SSID.

Only wireless you need to input SSID and password, for security purpose.

To change setting, you need to check the manual of the router for the correct IP Address.


Example: DLink router use
192.168.0.1

If yours is DLink router, do input the numbers on the address bar.
Once it show the Log-in page, just click "Login" as username and password do not need to change.

On computer, go to the Control Panel: Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center

From here, it guide you to do the home network setting, use the wizard.
This is the main page is you want to create or make changes.
No need to worry anything on other settings, as wizard will do a good job.



For normal use, at Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center
On the left panel, change adapter setting.
This is where the wired and wireless connection properties are.

Just surf and play.

Yes, I haven't touched the new router, so the problem is definitely not in it, but I still keep getting errors, and default gateway is not available, so I just went to the IPv4 settings and entered there the IPs manually, and Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4), and disabled IPv6 (Unticked it). But there are still problems.

Guys, just so I know: When you type ipconfig /all, you see DHCP enabled yes, or no? (Because mine is 'no', no matter what, even if I would set everything to auto..)

If DHCP is disabled you won't get an IP so no internet. You can change any local IP on PC or router it's only the internet IP that's set by isp
