question.... so i have EVERYTHING installed on my current 320GB HDD. how would i transfer EVERYTHING off that drive and on to the new one without having to re install OS or set all settings and such? like i want to clone my HDD and put it on the new one, then just boot from the new one.

What size is the new drive ?

You could make a disk image, then just put the image on the new drive.

You can make a partition on your current 320 drive to put the image on, add the new drive, then put the image on the new drive.

alrght well im going to need help doing that lol. the new HDD is 500gb 7200RPM. btw add me on steam too

So make a partition on the 320 with Partition Wizard or you can just use disk management to do it.

You need to shrink C

I advise people to use Partition Wizard because it`s so much easier.

alright i just wanted to make sure that i could do it. when i order the drive, i will let you know... probs next week or week after.

OK, but you should still make the partition and put the disk image on it, there`s no reason to wait.

Just get windows exactly how you want it, with all the updates, all your programs then make the image.

well mine is 320GB and i have NEVER had less then 200GB free at all times. so 500 is more then enough.

the one i have in there now is going to be used strictly for videos and Adobe cache files.

500 is plenty to start with, then you`ll have a 500 (465) and a 320 (298)

Then save to get your ssd

lol one of the old IBM laptops i had only had a 40GB HDD. EVERYTHING was on SD cards and thumb drives.... lol

Here is a shot of my drives at the moment, the Steam drive is getting pretty full now but I do have a lot of games on it (most of which I don't play) I will eventually add a bigger drive but for now it's fine.

we all know i have the coolest looking RAM here! lol wait.... damn it!

WELL I GOT GOOD DOWNLOAD SPEED!!!!!!! SO HA!

haha anyways, i can use the 320GB for images and backups too. although, if i ever have a HDD crash, i see that as an opportunity to start fresh and have a fast system again.

the only important things for me on my AMD rig are my videos. everything else i can redownload again.
