One computer suddenly can no longer access internet. But weird - it still does see the other computer on the LAN and can copy files from it. Could a PCI card gone bad block Internet but allow LAN?

It's not weird at all you have local network access. It tells me perhaps you have a DNS issue or something blocking Internet traffic on the computer.

Try this once. Start an elevated command prompt by typing cmd into search and right click launch as Admin. Now type the following and hit enter. ipconfig /flushdns.

Can you ping a website? ping google.com

Any anti-virus software or firewall? Those can be problematic.

Thank you everyone for your posts. I researched the problem and found that there is a known problem with the Broadcom network adapter on that computer. I bought a new NIC and my friend installed it. I don't have my computer back yet but my friend says it is now working with the new NIC. When I get it back and confirm that I'll post that here so this can be closed.
