Computer extremely slow during and after clean install and reboots.

This is what I did on the previous install before the re-install yesterday.

I run mdsched.exe (Memory Diagnostics Tool) in Extended mode and it said NO memory errors were detected.

I ran the SystemDiagnostics software that came with the computer which checked:

Hard disks - OK.
Main memory - OK.
Processors - OK.
DVD/CD-ROM drives - OK.
Network adapters - OK.
Graphic adapters - OK.
Device status check - OK.

I ran perfmon /report and everything was OK.

I went through the Device Manager and checked for driver updates and everything seemed OK.

I ran Memtest86+ from my USB and got 10 passes without error.

I downloaded and ran the SeaTools for Windows. I ran:

(1) S.M.A.R.T.
(2) Short Drive Self Test.
(3) Short Generic.
(4) Long Generic (this took quite a while).

...and they all PASSED.

Sorry mate it has me scratching around now for an answer. Now the only thing we haven't touched on is the PSU and I am wondering if you want to check it out just out of curiosity and elimination purposes because incorrect rail voltages can throw the machine off course. If you do want to check it it only takes a few minutes and use this ditty of mine to have a look and if there are things out of whack then you can always check with a physical multilmeter (digital) to make sure as soem are not fans of HW Info.
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT as a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE (sometimes the usual one for Gigabyte boards)
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/- (minimum - correct - maximum)
12v1 = 11.4 - 12 - 12.6v
12v2 = 11.4 - 12- 12.6v
5v = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 – 3 – 3.465v
-12v = -10.80 - -12 - -13.20v
+5VSB = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
The Power good signal voltage at pin 8 on the 24 pin plug (grey cable) should be the same as the 5v rail reading/s

The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel

Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.

Update:

I re-installed yesterday and after installation I ran the DeskUpdate which comes with the Fujitsu computer and finds new drivers and software. I installed the drivers (System devices, other devices, display adapters, mice and other pointing devices and network adapters) that it found but NOT the software as I had previously done.
That seemed to go OK but I did get the computer shutting down on its own on occassions but nothing like before.
I have been advised advised to run the following updates after a clean iinstall in the exact order listed below (they are all .msu's):

(01) Run and installed OK on the second attemp because the first attempt gave me a BSOD and shut down.
(02) Run and installed OK.
(03) I just haven't been able to get this to install on ANY of the clean install.
(04) Run and installed OK.

Then I just had no luck with (05) onwards. This is when my problems of BSOD started with constanly just shutting down and having booting problems. I tried system repair which seemed to work for a very limited time. It took minutes to boot into Windows and on many occasions I had to hard boot, sometimes two or three times to get it to boot. When it did eventually boot, clicking a link in Control Panel took minutes to open.
It seems like it runs out of memory (although we have checked this and it was OK) or times out, although power options are set to never.

Oops sorry Paul mate it completely escaped me the machine is a laptop and it will only show the charge on the battery stuff and yours looks ok so apologies again but that is the right site. It is worth keeping that program for future use into looking at system details.

Look I am having serious broadband issues here as I just had the new national system put on and it is making posting a nightmare. So I shall be shutting down for the night shortly but anyway if you reinstalled just how did you do that?? and if you did a clean install with an ISO did you clean the drive first. My guess is that you are doing a factory restore and I am not sure if everything is ok with that.

I reinstalled from the recovery DVD that came with the laptop.

I am waiting for some DVD's to be delivered, hopefully either today or tomorrow.
The ISO that I downloaded and used on one previous occasion I burnt a 8x. When I get the DVD's I will burn it again at 4x to see if that makes a difference. At least from an ISO it should be OK, otherwise it will be something to do with the computer. When I do this I will clean all with DiskPart (again).

Ok Paul actually if you use ImgBurn for the ISO burn try the 2.4x speed it is better still4x is considered the highest you should burn at. Doesn't take that much longer.

Instead I ran Windows update.
It needed to download and install Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320, which I did and that was OK.
I then run Windows update and after about 10 minutes the system crashed and rebooted.
When it did this, I got the following BSOD, which I usually get when it crashes.

Ok mate now this is a hardware problem in all likelihood for thaterror code just a it says in the blue screen message. Now how aboutif you install again and I see that Fujitsu DeskDate stuff isthe one to use from their support site why they justcannot post the individual drivers is a pain in the neck because Ithink this is a way for them to add stuff you don’t really want.
Look this is the support site from the US because I cannot get the UK one to download and it does give you drivers as per what is normally given http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Por...=A Series&Model=AH530&ProductType=Notebook PC just make absolutely sure the model number is correct because although I have your board details it does not reflect the actual model you have it will be on the bottom of the machine somewhere and should be something like A530 now the US site lists it as AH530 but I am hoping the drivers are the same.

Worth a shot anyway because as I said the UK site is ruddy hopeless. It might be an idea to put those drivers onto a stick and then install them to the machine from it but I would steer clear of the ones that are Fujitsu marked for the time being unless you do not get a picture or screen for example.

I just wished that blue screen had dumped some files. I have probably asked before but make sure the drive is cleaned not just formatted with diskpart on another machine because Windows cannot clean itself in situ for obvious reasons.
Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command just clean will do the trick it will show the drive as unallocated - the install from the media will do the formatting and partitioning. Use that ISO I linked too.

Now just how old did you say this machine was??

TASK 1:
I am going to clean with DiskPart and then reinstall using the recovery DVD that came with the computer. I will then install the BIOS, Video (Intel), Video (ATI), Bluetooth and WLAN (Atheros) driver updates from the USB that were downloaded from the site you provided.
The DeskUpdate that I previously ran I ran directly after the installation had completed and could be the problem then!!!

NOTE: I am going to run DiskPart like this...

Boot from the M$ installation disk, go to maintenance, open a Cmd window and you will be able to run the commands.

TASk 2:
If TASK 1 doesn't work, when I get my delivery of DVD's (hopefully within the next 2 days) I will download the ISO you suggested and burn it to DVD using ImgBurn at 2.4x speed.
When I have done this will I need to download and install ALL the drivers from http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Port...=Notebook%20PC or will Windows update find them?

Although the computer was bought for my Father back in 2012 it only has about 250 hours of use, the majority of these hours are trying to get a clean install :banghead: .

I only asked the age of the machine thinking that if it were very old the hard drive may be knackered not to put too fine a point on it but is any case it might be worth while testing it anyway when you can use this

My Brother-in-law bought a new HDD round that he has lent to me which I put in.

I have managed to install Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64 from the recovery DVD that came with the computer without any problems, NO BSOD’s, so it is definitely my HDD that is faulty.

Megahertz07 gave me an ISO link for the above system which I downloaded and burnt to a DVD to make a bootable installation disk.

My question is, can I clean install Windows using this bootable installation disk?

The reason I ask is because I tried to download the ISO myself from here...

Paul mate sorry I have been late but I am having extreme broadband problems at the momne or I would have answered sooner. Yes ImgBurn is a pig of a site to download form and I would have steered you to the right site but Megahertz has sorted that.

So regarding the ISO yes that is a proper site to download it from because I think it requires a valid key - which you have on a sticker on that machine - before it wil download anything you just need to get the right version ie Home or Pro and 32 or 64bit.

The best thing about doing it from an ISO is that you will not get any of the factory bloatware and the updates will not be as many because the ISO is already had a lot of it's content fixed whereas if the media was old then there would be a lot of patches to be don as well as updates. There will be quite a few mind you so I would set the updates to let you know first before downloading and installing then as I find that as I do not use Skype for example I can untick that from the listing/s.

So in summary as long as you have a valid key for that motherboard then the ISO will be fine just make sure the disk is clean not just formatted it will be done along with any partitioning during the install process.

This might also be a chance to install an SSD if your budget will allow or you could get one of the hybrid drives - that is a spinner with a small SSD part built into it or a spinner that is a 7200 rpm model the older 5400rpm ones are woefully slow.

Having said all that I would personally contact Microsoft explain the situation to them and they are likely to let you se the key that Fujitsu used I would tell them that Fujitsu is unable to supply such a media and in all reality that probably would be the case if you contacted them.
