Hi I have Win XP installed on my PC and I have tried several times to do a dual boot with Win7 RC and after each attempt I have put my system back to normal by reformatting the Win7 partition with Acronis Disk doctor and reimaging XP Pro with Acronis true Image.

What happens is I go through the install and the green progress bar goes pretty well right across the screen and all the stages are checked of as they are done then I get the screen that the computer wants to reboot and I let it time out and when it starts up again I get "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" the first time I left it because I didn't want to reinstall again after some time with the PC still at that screen I pressed a key and nothing happened.
Another time I pressed the key and it wanted to do another installation so I let it do a repair and when it rebooted the same thing so I tried again and removed the disk when it rebooted and when the PC gets through POST I get a black screen with a blinking cursor that I cant type anything to.

I would imagine that if I can get past this point it would be where I type in the product key.

I have tried this disk on another computer in Ubuntu with virtual box and it installed ok. I have the boot order correct I have recently installed XP pro on it. I am using a PS2 keyboard that was OK for the XP install and I can get into Bios OK.

I would appreciate any input that anyone can give thanks in advance.

I will reformat the Win7 partition and reimage XP back because I cant use this PC as it is. I hope someone can shed some light on this.

EDIT: I will put the RAM back

Thanks nate42nd I have tried removing the disk and I get a black screen with a flashing - but I cant type anything there. Hopefully the device manager trick for old hardware will do the trick but its late here now so I will try it tomorrow, thanks again
