Computer set up right?

I know very little to nothing about these settings. But I went back in to the overclocking section and everything appears to be set to auto with only a couple of exceptions which are set to enabled. I have already set the bios to default settings. I have never attempted to OC anything and do not want to risk my computer by doing so. This is not the best computer by any means, but it is the best I have ever owned by a long shot. So, no gambles from me. I hope this will be the last computer I have to buy. I tried to pick good quality parts with good technology. I just want it to run right. Thanks for all your help.

Your settings all look right, you might try turning the AHCI back to IDE just to see what happens. When I turned on AHCI for my SATA ports 0-3, it wouldn't boot into windows at all. You might also remove 2 sticks of your 16GB memory, making sure you leave 2 in the colored slots (may be blue or red, refer to you MB instructions here) and make sure that the 2 you have left are seated properly. If everything works the same, replace the sticks that are in with the ones you took out to make sure you don't have a marginal memory stick. Also double check your memory speed. AMD processors cannot handle super high frequencies without some professional tuning. I use 1300 (Manufacturer's limit), most use 1600 and it's perfectly fine, above that it gets dicey.

Just curious, when do you experience slowness? Is the machine just slow in general or do you only experience it when browsing the web, or something else?

seems just slow in general. I don't notice it at any specific time.

Could you elaborate a little about AMD systems not handling large amts. of Ram. I was not aware of that, and it could be part of the problem.

He means that the CPUs don't like high frequency FSB.

If you want to O/C your AMD system and you want O/C advice join/post on a site thats dedicated to O/Cing such as Overclockers Australia Forums - Powered by vBulletin or EXTREME Overclocking - Tweaking PC Hardware To The Max for example.

With all due respect to the people on this forum this a forum dedicated to Windows Operating Systems not to pushing hardware faster than manufacturers specs.
Personally if I need advice I would go to a group whose main interest is in how to O/C and how to cool your CPU whilst doing so. When I run into Win 7 OS problems I come here if you get my point

In your bios, disable any options for cool&quiet, as well as anything to do with hardware control of your processor (such as power control or suchlike),

This will put your clockspeed to the one quoted for your processor and you will notice the speed increase.

We have to do this for our customers on a regular basis who build their own PC's.
