Solved Computer Shuts Down When Put to Sleep

Thanks for reading and responding to this thread. For about three months now the computer will be shut down when I check it in the morning. Initially is was occasional but now is every morning. I have Tasks that put it to sleep at 12 midnight and wake it up at 5:30 in the morning. It has worked flawlessly for about a year. Now all of a sudden something has gone haywire. When I reboot I get BSOD but then boots up normally. Another strange thing is ALL my web pages are logged out. When I left click on the login fields the entries are there to select. I've checked other threads similar to this issue but am unclear what information and how to retrieve it so I can present it for diagnosis. I'm computer literate but need some guidance here. Thanks.

I found the Sleep task, for lack of better words, was "stuck" as running. I deleted the task and created a new one and all is fine.

My above post didn't solve the problem. I found the issue started when I updated my BIOS. ASUS MB. Changed the APM setting for "Restore AC Power Loss" to "Last State". SOLVED

Thanks for posting Wyodiver, I had completely forgotten about this thread.

In reference to my last post. After about three days the issue returned. I brought it up on the Microsoft and Asus forums and they mutually agreed it was an issue with the BIOS. Something haywire with the chip.

I ordered a new BIOS, had it updated to the latest release and installed it. Everythings been working fine for three weeks. Absolutly no problems.

I believe static electricity fryed the original chip.
