Computer stuck in Back Up Mode

My computer has been running back up for about 4 days I shut the puter off tis am
But when it was turned back on the in the tool on the bottom of the screen right sire
the symbol for the back up is running is there again: any thoughts as to how to get
shut off: Thanks

Start>control panel>backup and restore>>cancel/stop. If that doesnt work boot into safe mode (F8)

I went and did a restore on the computer and it was removed But its back today will try F-8 today :

Do you mean update mode????????

I suspect you are talking about updating with windows update. I have had this problem a number of times. Windows starts an update and then stalls. I have eliminated that update in the update window, and then updated later and that solved the problem. I don't understand the cause, but that solution has worked for me twice now. Once the problem continued for a week before I found the solution. The worst thing is it wont let you download anything else, or even update microsoft security essentials. Hope this helps a bit. No I Mean my computer is Stuck in Back up Mode, I have a symbol on tool bar at the bottom of the screen that shows that back up is running , and I can not get it to stop running: That s it:

Have you looked at the schedual for backing up? Is it automatically set?

AT this moment it will not let me in to change any thing all it does is sit . On the lower right side of the task bar on the bottom I have three symbols there one is for the Speakers the other is for the Internet and the last is for the Back up is in process and thats the way it sits:
Have tryed to do F8 but but no avail and got into safe mode it would not let me make any changes , So as of now it just sit there running or at least it says it running?
