Computer Upgrade

My motherboard died and now I have decided to upgrade my tower,please advise me if there is anything that won't work.
I will be using it for Multi tasking and general internet and program use.
I will not be gaming.

MEMORY; G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL (4x4GB) DDR3 Link

OLD PARTS


POWER SUPPLY; Corsair TX750 Watts
CASE; Coolermaster HAF-X
HARD DRIVES; Samsung 840 Pro 128 gig
Two WD Green 2tb

I am having a problem with the Memory (I have asked this question on Win8forum)
The official Specs sat that I can run 1866 ram but another official site says 1866(OC).
I want to install 16gig ram but don't know what speed 1600 or 1866,I do not want to mess around with Overclocking.
Your input would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the mobo. Everything looks good, why aren't you carrying over your existing ram or are you? If not and you have your heart set on new then get faster ram say 2400 as it's way faster but still won't break the bank like 2800 or 3000 will. Check the above ram statement as this mobo max's at 1866? Why when Haswell can take so much more? Oh well if new then go 1866 not 1600. Also are you sure you don't want the "k" version for the option later to push it some. It's like getting a Porsche and driving 65 max.

Keep in mind this is XMP capable ram and to OC it is SIMPLE ! Really simple !

If you have XMP RAM like Alan says you should be alright most Sabertooths will let you select the correct Ram speed in the bios this takes no numeral adjustments just a setting click it should be under AI tweeker once you get going we can help you further

Thanks for the reply, but the old ram is DDr2 so it will not work.
I did not consider the "K" as I have absolutely no interest in overclocking,

@Solarstarshines, I will go with 1866 and make sure it is Xmp capable.
Will post the one I decide on.

I just bought Team xtreme and I love it in my i5 rig......what a value, but GSkill in my AMD 8 core is outstanding as well and also consider Crucial Ballistic Tracer in my i7 rig.

If I could make a suggestion to save yourself some unnecessary cost.

The Sabetooth motherboard you have chosen although it is an excellent board, I believe it is overkill for your intended use. The Sabertooth is classed as a Gaming type board and is also designed for Overclocking. You mentioned you don't plan on doing either of those.
I would therefore suggest you save some money and go for a cheaper Asus board which will still be more than up to the job such as this one - ASUS H87-PRO Motherboard [H87-PRO] - $135.00 : PC Case Gear

Yes the Asus pro would be sufficient for my needs but the main reason I picked the Sabertooth is for the dust control.
I have a very dusty environment where I use my computer (instead of a can of compressed air I use a pick and shovel)
It is a lot of extra money but I think it will be worth it in the long run.

Sabertooth is the only one with a cover over the main board ,I looked for other boards that might have this but nope not even AMD Sabertooth has a cover

I would like to point even though it has a covering you will still need to dust it IMHO you really won't benefit from it being covered anymore if it was a standard ATX dust will jump in there no matter what you do it's just the circle of life

Precisely right on the dust and in fact the little fans will actually draw the dust and and it will be out of sight but it shouldn't be out of mind. Blow out with air every 2 months at least !

Best thing for you to do is invest in case filters that would be the only conclusion to your dust problem

The ASUS H87-PRO mentioned above looks like a very good value for money board. Have you considered the i5-4670. Here is a comparison with your existing CPU.
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 vs Core i5-4670
The only difference if I was building a new PC would be an i5-4670k since I overclock sometimes.

Use this filter set and run positive case pressure, ie more intake air than exhaust air.

I use the DemciFlex on my haf 922 and haf 932. I raise exotic cats and always have 2-3 hanging around me in the office wanting to help with wiring and small part installations. I need to clean the filters every two weeks or so but they keep 99%+ of the dust and hair from reaching the inside of the case. What does get in is easily removed with a DataVac.
