Hello

I have recently re installed windows 7 onto my computer, after the install was complete I first tried to install my wireless adapter. But every time I try to install it, yes it goes though the steps of installing it. But after the install of the device is complete windows says that it is an unidentified device.

I have tried using the software from the disc that came with it and also the software from the site, does anyone have any idea of why this is happening and how it can be fixed because at the moment I have hooked my desktop up to my laptop and am running the Internet of that.

My wireless adapter is an belkin 802.11g - 54 Mbps (FCC ID: RAXWN4501H)

Any help would be most appreciated.

Doing a google search I see a lot of install problems with the "old" generation device. You may want to consider upgrading the "g" device to a current "n" device.

However, as its a USB device it may just be a corruption in Windows. Many devices require the drivers to be installed first and then the device physically connected or the install will fail.

There should be an Unidentified Device listed in the Device Manager and probably in the USB section. If this is the case with the device connected, Uninstall this in the Device Manager (RIGHT click on the Entry to highlight it and then LEFT click "uninstall"). Since you have the drivers installed do not check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then physically disconnect the adapter and then restart the PC. After Windows completes its startup, connect the device and Windows should detect and reinstall it. If it still does not reinstall correctly, go through the uninstall procedure again but this time check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then after Windows starts, install the drivers first and then physically connect the adapter and see if it installs correctly.
