I have acer Aspire 5742z with Windows 7 64 bit home. Awhile back my resolution changed from 1366 x 768 to 1200 x 768. I believe this occurred after a windows update. Well I went to play a video game, Neverwinter Nights. The resolution in the game also changed. So I began looking into my video card settings. When I ran the direct x diagnostic test, there is nothing listed. When I check device manager, and display adapters, I find Intel HD Graphics. I cannot change my resolution back to 1366 x 768, the highest I can get is 1200 x 768. Anyone think they can help me get my resolution back, I think it will cause the fps on the game to go back to normal as well.

Might be as simple as re-installing the driver. I suggest you go to Acer and download and install the most current version of the driver you can also check in device manager to see if the driver is listed and working

Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If your driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

I would try a reinstall of your display drivers.

Follow the link onto Acer's official support site and select the model of laptop you own from the drop down lists.

Make sure you select the correct VGA Driver, there are x4 to choose from. There is one for an AMD/Intel onboard graphics and two for Nvidia dedicated graphics cards.

It normally says on the front of your laptop.

I already updated the driver and there is one listed under display adapters and the details section says it working properly. I'm currently downloading the VGA Intel driver to try and reinstall it.
