Confusion with my Graphics Driver

I just bought a new laptop and I got it today. I bought it online. It's an MSI one but I can't find the model on it's website. The sticker on my laptop says MSI A617A but I can't find it in their site. I'm currently in Korea and I bought it here:

It came with the usual utility CD but it has no DVD ROM. I guess because of the "ODD" feature which allows me to add another HDD/SSD on the side part of my laptop where the DVD ROM is usually located. so I manually downloaded the drivers of my GT645M. But when I tried installed it at first, it told me that I need to install Intel first. So I installed drivers for Intel HD 4000 then I installed the latest drivers of Nvidia GT645M. Both installed properly and when I checked Device Manager, both of them are listed under Display Adapters. When I tried to check on CPU-Z, under the Graphics Tab, the video card that that is appearing is only Intel HD 4000. But it should be Nvidia GT645M or I should at least be able to choose from the drop down bar between the two. What should I do to clear this confusion?

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
Processor: Intel i5-3230M
Video Card: Nvidia GT645M 2GB DDR3
HDD: 500 GB
RAM: 4 GB

Hey crusher25, If you are sure that it GT64X in your system, then try to disable the intel HD from BIOS and see if you are able to see the Nvidia card or not!.

Just so your expectations aren't too high, that is a NOT a gaming laptop by any means.

Per me looking at the specs on that sales site, that and I bought my wife a better one a year ago than that, sans video, which can't make up for the low-end i5 in that one, no way no how.

That said, it's fine for general use.

I know it's not a gaming laptop. I never said it was because of my graphics card but I know it's a "decent" budget one since GT645M is not so bad at all. Am I right?

I tried the BIOS thing but there were no options on on disabling integrated video cards.

GPU-Z was able to detect Intel HD 4000 and GT645M. But about the BIOS thing, there's no option there to turn of the integrated one.

Was there no option in GPU- Z Interface to switch between the Cards?..... What about Post 3 did you try that solution ?

Crusher, try settings in the nvidia control panel and see if you can select the dedicated card for games. It sounds like you might have one of the laptops with optimus. Use the forum tool to fill your specs and maybe we can help.

Otherwise....

Yeah call the brand tech support, it's possible it's an old school jumper even, but that'll be ugly, if the case, since it's a laptop, highly unlikely and really ridiculous on MSI, if this is it.

645M for video will be fine for general use... It should be significantly better than the on-board and hopefully has it's own V-RAM.

Since you couldn't locate the system on their website, what is CPU-Z on the mainboard tab listing as the motherboard model?

That's the bios upgrade to potentially track down, and would be funny if it's not a MSI motherboard in a MSI laptop.

Check out this video and see if you can use the settings in nvidia control panel as shown in the video. That is if you have optimus.

Sorry for the late reply guys. I went on a 4 day trip somewhere. I'll try to do all the things you told me.

Motherboard is MS-16GB.

Dude, yeah!!! You got it right but processor is 3230M and video card is GT645M. 4 GB RAM too but other parts, exactly the same.

From the link earlier. You can use the control panel to choose the Nvidia card within the Nvidia control panel.

He said that the equivalent international model is the CX70 so that's the link. But my problem is, my laptop didn't come with an OS but the drivers for the webcam there says that it comes with the OS. Also, when I try to install the drivers for USB 3.0, I get a BSOD.

Yeah. The one for my wireless adapter worked.
